The four fundamental team topologies don’t include Support or Devops teams, because teams should be responsible for the “runtime success” of the software they build. It’s the same idea of “You build it you run it” coined by Amazon’s CTO Werner Vogels in the early 2000s.
👉 When teams building a service have the responsibility of also operating it, they become incentivised and empowered to act on reducing the frictions of operating said service.
👉 When team have a direct access to the customers’ queries, they become incentivised and empowered to not only mitigate those issues but prevent them from further occurrences.
